If I've heard it once, I've heard it a million times (okay, maybe only 5 or 6, but that's something!!), "You should write. Write a blog, I'd read it!" So here I go. I attempted a previous blog, some of you may have read it. It was about my 6 month stay in Switzerland...except I quit writing after month 2! Not a very good track record. I get it.
Why is this time going to be different? I don't know. But I feel differently. I've got some new perspective, some new intentions. It's like Rumi said, "Let the beauty of what you love be what you do." I love to write. It's kind of like loving to hear yourself speak, only different! And who among us doesn't feel they have something valuable to say? And besides there are those 5 or 6 people (never mind that one of them is my mom and another my husband).
What do I plan to write about? The things I love. Food! I love trying new restaurants, especially if they are not chains and they offer vegetarian food. 'Cause me and a BBQ joint wouldn't get very far. I don't eat meat. But I'll post on that later. I have opinions about food, I love trying new foods, I love interesting ingredients. My best friend is a chef (and a damned good one at that) and she's opened my eyes to food and its very connecting and uplifting place in our lives. More on that later. And I'll write about other stuff, too. What I've learned about relationships, what I know to be true (sorry, Oprah, I hope you haven't copywrited that, 'cause I just used it), and what I've learned about being here right now. And how this is the very best place to be.
Why should you read this stuff? I dunno. Maybe you shouldn't. If you find yourself getting angry, getting depressed, thinking I'm full of it, and then planning all the stuff you'd tell me to do with myself if you ever met me, please, don't read. Neither of us need your negative energy. But, as I said, I think I've got reasonably interesting stuff to say. I'm well-read. I like reading the news, I have opinions. I read a lot of books, fiction and non-fiction. I'm always developing theories about myself, people around me (trust me, they LOOOOVE that), and the world we live in. I'm focused on personal fulfillment and happiness. I want this to be a happy place, sometimes socially conscious, sometimes utterly airy, but always happy and always here now. Because that's the reality I'm seeking to create in my life. I hope you find the journey interesting. And like I said, I love food. I plan to review restaurants from time to time. If you live in the Indy area, imagine how useful that would be!UPDATE!!! (July 14, 2010)
I decided that the tone of this blog does not warrant restaurant reviews and such, so I've decided to move that stuff to a new blog. Check it for all things Indiana (mainly Indianapolis) and surrounding!
I hope you like it! Email me and tell me what you think. I'm always interested!
